Testimonies vs Sales

Hey everyone! It has been a while since my last post. I have been very busy but I am back! As many of you may remember it has only been about 4 months since the big move to South Texas. The whole decision making was a difficult and confusing situation. Although I had prayed about this decision, and knew in the end it would be best one to make, there was an inevitable uncertainty. Yes, my grandma was the main reason for us to move want to move down here, but since my mom and I would be leaving our jobs behind we needed a financial plan or something that will help us financially. This is where the idea of the business came about. As a family we had to make a financial risk, but we weren't sure how it would all work out.

My mom had made the move a month prior to me. She worked on getting all paperwork, advertising, and office taken care of. When I arrived there was still plenty of work to be done. We were not open until at least the end of that month. Since that moment up until now the business has been slowly picking up. We do not have new business everyday but we have a few sales during the month. Besides the slow business, we have also found ourselves with discouraging events and financial struggles.Although we knew that my grandma was the reason we were here, and that we needed something to help us financially, but my mom and I both felt there was more to all of this.

These months have been filled with very unique and special moments that we cannot ignore. It all started when my parents were setting everything up at the office and the gentleman who delivered the chairs after having left, he returned for no real reason and ended up sharing his testimony with my dad. Now, my dad is going through his own personal journey with God and although he has not given his life to Him, he does know He exist. My mom was surprised by this but little did she know that a couple of days later she would have another surprising encounter. While my mom was working somebody stopped by looking for the previous business owner to see if they could do some partnership. My mom explained that they had moved and that now she was the owner and what kind of business she had. One thing led to another and my mom ended with an invitation to a church that was down the street from the office.

My mom did not visit the church until after my sister and I arrived. I still remember walking in, and right in front of us on the screens the words 'Welcome Home" were just there right in front us for us to see. At that moment I knew we had found our church. Although at first we were not going constantly, the few times we were able to join I felt welcomed. During the few Young Adult meetings I have been to I have been able to few but meaningful friendships. My mom and I also joined a bible study which is something we have never done!

This is not all! We have had several visits from people who were looking for something simple (like help with a fax or a copy) and after some small talk, they just begin to share their testimony. It has all been so amazing! but I think the most important thing is that during most of these moments is that they have been witnessed by a family friend. Now, this friend is someone who was unsure about her relationship with Christ, she had no idea what it was to have one with him. She just knew that her family did certain things (such as prayer, going to church) as tradition. After one of the discouraging moments that we faced, my mom and her had a conversation about how God helped us work everything out for the business. This stirred some questions, from her. There were days at the office just spent conversing, asking questions and going through bible verses. In addition, it turns out that a cousin of hers (whom we met at a birthday party), just recently gave her life to Christ as well, and they have been helping each other out through the journey.

We are still unsure about everything that God has in store for us here in South Texas. But during the discussions my mom and I have had, we now that right now, no matter how "slow" business gets, there is a greater purpose for us being here. No matter how many discouraging moments we go through "we cant let it get to us, because God is showing us that there's a greater purpose". Now our business is based on sales, but like I told my mom- "We see more Testimonies than Sales" and nothing can be more rewarding.

  1. The bible says that the plans of God are not like ours... and His plans are better!!! May God bless your business! - It's better to have more testimonies for His Glory than none at all! Keep doing what God puts in your heart! Blessings

  2. Girl...have so been there. We moved last year to Nashville from Ohio. Then again this past summer a bit north of Nashville. Not for a job but because God told us to. It's been crazy..but God has taught us so much and we've had so many cool things happen. Keep trusting. :)

  3. God's plans are higher than our plans - His thoughts are higher than our thoughts - if we would only let Him take command

    1. I have found it difficult to let Him command when it gets overwhelming, as if my way of doing things could fix everything---Obviously it doesnt, not without Him.
